YEAR OF FREEDOM (part IV), YEAR OF JUBILEE

Pastor Luis Del Cid. New York, January 18 of 2012 year of freedom

Introduction:  As we saw in the previous topic, in the old Israel, when they proclaimed year of freedom was also called jubilee year, let’s see:
Eze 46:17 If, however, he makes a gift from his inheritance to one of his servants, the servant may keep it until the year of freedom; then it will revert to the prince. His inheritance belongs to his sons only; it is theirs

H1865 derór an unused root (meaning: to move quickly). Freedom, hence, spontaneity, flow, and that clear: Jubilee, freedom.

The word Deror, as we see it translated as well as freedom, when God determined a year of freedom, He determined a jubilee year.

This year, is a new cycle, where God has loosed an anointing that by his grace, makes us free.
This is a year where the things that will happen are that debts will be forgiven. Why?
Lev 25:1 The year of rest of the land and the year of jubilee
While Moses was on Mount Sinai, the LORD said to him,

Lev 25: 8-"'Count off seven Sabbaths of years--seven times seven years--so that the seven Sabbaths of years amount to a period of forty-nine years.
Lev 25: 9- Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement sound the trumpet throughout your land.
Lev 25: 10- Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty (derór) throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each one of you is to return to his family property and each to his own clan.

The Jubilee was the period which included 7 times 7 plus one.
Deu 15:1 At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts
Deu 15:2 this is how it is to be done: Every creditor shall cancel the loan he has made to his fellow Israelite. He shall not require payment from his fellow Israelite or brother, because the Lord’s time for canceling debts has been proclaimed
Deu 15:4- However, there should be no poor among you, for in the land the LORD your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you,
Deu 15:5- if only you fully obey the LORD your God and are careful to follow all these commands I am giving you today.

There are many ways of slavery that to oppress God’s people, but one of the stronger are the debts. Year of Jubilee, year of release, the year where they are left free the slaves, and according to Proverbs 22:7 the borrower is slave to the lender.

Prov 22:7 the rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

Although, God in the midst of a need let us sometimes render, the optimal plan of God is that if we buy something, we do pay at once. The first thing that most of us thought when we listened “year of forgiveness of debt” is the ones we want and need to be forgiven, and that is fine, but it should not be primarily because the verse 5 says: “IF YOU HEAR THE FAITHFUL VOICE OF THE LORD TO SAVE AND MEET ALL THESE COMMANDMENTS”.

That means that the first thing is that we forgive, not just material things but spiritual things, so the Lord Jesus said:
Mat 6:9 “This, then, is how you should pray: "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
Mat 6:12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Year of Jubilee, the year of forgiveness, what else happens in the Jubilee?
The Jubilee is explained throughout the chapter 25 of Leviticus
Lev 25:10 Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each one of you is to return to his family property and each to his own clan.

This means, this is a year where we must go out to evangelize, to proclaim liberty in Jesus Christ.
This is a year where we will recover things that we were about to lose.

Year where families will be reconciled. Members who were slaves to worldly things and thus separated from their families, they will return to their families this year.

Lev 25:11- the fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you; do not sow and do not reap what grows of itself or harvest the untended vines.
Lev 25:12- For it is a jubilee and is to be holy for you; eat only what is taken directly from the fields

This is a year where we should stop worrying about generating more incomes, more material things, and instead strive to rest in the Lord and seek His presence, because that’s the only way we can sanctify.

One who says so, this year of Jubilee, look what God will give you for a lifetime.

Lev 25:18- 'Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land.
Lev 25:19- Then the land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and live there in safety.

God Asks this time like something special so we can look for Him, and as a reward we will dwell securely in the land and will always have support not only necessary but abundant. But beware, because He asks us to keep holy (Lev 25:12) and trust that if we seek this, the rest will come.

Exo 35:2 for six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.

The substance of what God commands us in this verse is that we should not fall in an effort to work more that prudent, but we know that “here is the number 6” and henceforth seek only to God.

Phi 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

When we search in the Hebrew, the etymology of which can be translated eagerness, we find the following:
Job 11:14-if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent,
Job 11:15- then you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and without fear.

This word Iniquity comes from the Hebrew AVEN H205 and is translated as vanity, toil.
The toil is caring beyond prudent responsibility for something; it’s willing to get more that they can properly.

Notice how the hand is the eagerness with vanity. Generally earthly desire something more than moderate effort becomes and is to have iniquity, and therefore there is no holiness. Let’s see what happens in the year of jubilee:
Lev 25:20- you may ask, "What will we eat in the seventh year if we do not plant or harvest our crops?”
Lev 25:21- I will send you such a blessing in the sixth year that the land will yield enough for three years.
Lev 25:22- While you plant during the eighth year, you will eat from the old crop and will continue to eat from it until the harvest of the ninth year comes in.

Remember that the period of 6 days or in this case 6 years, is a figure of “ we have to work but without trying to strive beyond what is prudent, meaning that we do not prevent us from seeking God” and then the promise is “what you reap with your might God will triple.”

The year of Jubilee is a year where our faiths is tested, where as we said to sanctify, we stop worrying and look for more from the Lord but  notice that it is time to eat the stale.

Year of Jubilee, the year we must seek sustain us of old things. Old things are promises, Rhemas, blessings that God gave us but still not fulfilled or experiences we lived before and now the year of Jubilee will bloom for our blessing.

The beloved says (the church) in the song of Salomon:
Song of Solomon 7: 13 the mandrakes send out their fragrance, and at our door is every delicacy, both new and old, that I have stored up for you, my lover.

To eat stale things, we need to have intimacy with the beloved.

In ancient times they believed that the mandrakes were fruits that used to help women to be fertile. What this means is that the church that wants to participate in every blessing in the year of jubilee, must prepare and seek intimacy with her lover, for in the privacy sprout things stale.
Among the things stale, there is evidence that we live and at this time will be remembered because it will encourage our soul.

Song of Solomon 2:5 strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love.

The raisins were once grapes. From grave wine is removed. Wine means joy, so eating a raisin is to remember that joy, that experience we had in God and now will become the support that we will make us to move on.

Rev 2:5 Remember the days of your first love? How different you were…!
Rev 2:5 Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first…

The year of Jubilee is time to revisit those children of God be thanked, ready to find anything to be with God. This, as we saw earlier, will take us that God will always sustain us wherever we will, we need to be sure about that.
