Like Mother, Like Daughter Part III

Family Service

October 12, 2010. Prep Year

Introduction:

As we saw in the previous parts of this topic, problems that occur in living, either by the condition of this person when she/he was in their mother's womb, or the situation that occurred the day of birth.

Psalm 58:3 From the matrix are off the wicked go astray, from birth those who speak lies.

In two different versions of the Bible as we find some deviation was either since they were in the womb or at birth. Hence, knowing that, what happened to the National Israel is a figure to us, we have been seeing each son of Jacob, and how it affected the circumstances experienced in pregnancy or childbirth each of the sons of Jacob. So far we have seen the sons of Rachel, Leah, for Rachel's maid (who was Bilhah) and now we see the sons of Zilpah.

The sons of Zilpah: Gad

Gen. 30:9 Leah saw that she had left to give birth, she took her maid Zilpah and gave her to Jacob.

Gen. 30:10 And Zilpah, Leah's handmaid, bore Jacob a son

Gen. 30:11 and Leah said: How fortunate! And she called his name Gad.

How fortunate expression! , In Hebrew is also interpreted as HARASS A PERSON, call out for.

Zilpah means: Distillation of the mouth. Drip like Myrrh. This lets us see the context of the birth of Gad, affected by his mother who had the habit of talking with myrrh (with the intent to hurt, to suffer) and the influence of Leah who said, with this I SHALL HARASS.

In short Gad represents those who when they speak has a bad habit of hurting, just because. See how that becomes a habit of that people:

Luke. 8.26-28 And they sailed to the land of the Gadarenes which is opposite Galilee; 27- and when He went ashore, he was met by a city man possessed by demons, and that for a long time had not put any clothes or lived in a house, but in the tombs 28- Seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell before him, and said aloud: What do I have to do with you, Jesus, Son of God Almighty? Please do not torment me.

Jesus was there to help and see how they respond as abusive. Of course that guy was possessed, but the rest of Gadara were not kind to speak to the Lord. Note the environment Gadara became to: NO COVER, NO INTENT TO LIVE IN A HOUSE (family), but in the tombs (with dead people).

Luke. 28:33 The demons left the man and entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned.

Luke. 28:37 But the whole multitude of the Gadarenes who came, a voice asked Yeshua to please outside their boundaries because they were overwhelmed with fear. Hearing his request, Yeshua went aboard and left.

All the people of Gadara, instead of show gratitude, asked to the one who had done them the favor of healing that possessed man, to stay away. According to the Gospel of Matthew: the possessed were 2. Where those 2 were, no one could pass through. What are your attitudes? Are you part of those who hurt people with no reason? Or instead of returning good for good, return evil?

Second Son of Zilpah: ASHER

Gen. 30:12-13 Then Zilpah, Leah's handmaid, bore Jacob a second son. 13- And Leah said, Fortunate for me, because women will call me blessed. And she named him Asher.

Asher means happy, but when we see part of the history of the tribe of Asher, they were part of those who settled in the midst of the enemies of God. The Lord had said:

Exodus 23:23-24 My angel will go before you and he will take you to the land of Amorites, The Hittites, the Perizzites, Canaanites, and Jebusites HIvite, whom I will destroy. 24- You shall not bow to their gods nor serve them, nor do as they do, but destroy them completely and totally shatter their statues.

And look what the tribe of Asher did:

Judges 1:32 And Asher lived among the Canaanites who dwelt in the land, because it did not expel.

Asher, therefore criminalizes those who know that there is something wrong in their midst, but they prefer to settle and be happy with sin or the problem, before they try to get that out of their lives.

2 Timothy 2:21 For noble use, consecrated and useful to the Lord, one has to be kept clean of all evil. Then it will be useful for anything good.

Issachar:

Gen. 30:14-16 Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I beg you, from your son's mandrakes.15- But she replied: Do you think some having removed my husband? Will you also take away my son's mandrakes? And Rachel said, Let him sleep with you tonight in return for your son's mandrake. 16- And when Jacob came from the field in the evening, Leah went out to meet him and said: You must come in unto me, for surely I have hired my son mandrakes. And he slept with her that night.

Note Lea's attitude again: I GIVE YOU ANYTHING BUT I HOPE TO GET SOMETHING IN RETURN. Read on:

Gen. 30:17-18 God heard Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son. 18- And Leah said: God has given me my hire because I gave my handmaid to my husband. And he called his name Issachar.

Issachar means reward, according to theologians is derived from two Hebrew roots, which means to unite them: WAGE LABOR

On the other hand, some historians believe that the economic prosperity of the tribe of Issachar converted her in slave and decadent. This typifies those who do nothing, without waiting for a material interest in front, again the Lord says:

John 10: 11-13 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12- But the employee, which is not the shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. 13- The hireling flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep.

At this time we do not see these texts as being ministerial, but as a shadow of our model Jesus Christ, teaching us what we MUST NOT BE EMPLOYED.

Zebulun:

Gen. 30:19-20 Then Leah conceived again and bore Jacob the sixth son. 20- And Leah said, God has given me a good dowry, but now my husband will live with me because I gave birth to six children. And she named him Zebulun.

As the text says, Zebulun is the son number 6 of Jacob and Leah. The number 6 defines the man, the son, therefore, speaks of humanity, and with this, we must be careful:

Gen. 49:13 Zebulun shall dwell at the seashore, and he will port for ships, and its limit will be at Sidon.

The sea makes it: evil spirits prison, life of the world or abode of the dead. This speaks of those who wish to remain locked up in human behavior(although not seem bad), and refuse to change their way of thinking, to learn to think and live as the Word of God commands.

The Lord said to Peter:

Mark 8:31-33 He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer greatly, be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, be killed and resurrected after three days.

Sometimes in our Humanity, we are very wise and very kind, at the point that we prefer to remain human thinking as trying to evade the tough times but that will be of eternal blessing, and our way of putting things out. The danger of thinking this way is bordering on the diabolical. So the Lord said:

Mark. 8:34 – He summoned the crowd with his disciples and said: If any man will come after me, must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
